Surely I can’t be the only one that makes statements like the following: “That was just the other day”; only to realize that was months ago. Or, “I don’t think it was that long ago that fill-in-the-blank happened” and it was years ago.
I’ve heard that the older we get, the faster time goes by. My husband even watched a sciency type vlog about why that is. The older I get the more I experience this truth. It doesn’t necessarily hold true in the minute to minute, hour by hour parts of life, but it definitely does in the weeks, months and years.
I just logged in to my WordPress account to follow another blog. The site automatically took me to the last post I wrote. I was shocked to see that it has been almost 2 1/2 years since I last posted. Obviously, I did NOT stick with the goal of writing more!
This got me to pondering…what other goals, plans, good intentions, have I let slip past thinking it hasn’t really been that long since I…fill-in-the-blank? I have read much about intentionality and considered it to be a worthy pursuit, but again, I have not set myself to actually living that way. This realization of time flying by without accomplishing what I feel I should is serving as a wake-up call. I need to live intentionally in ALL areas of my life. I feel I have a good start in some very important areas such as Bible study/reading time. There are other areas that too often get handled via the “fly by the seat of your pants” mode of operation. My goal is to sit down and look at all the most important aspects of my life and set achievable goals for intentionality in each of them!
