Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ, from Whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”
Ephesians 4:15-16 ESV
As Christians, we need to aspire to a level of maturity that results in our speaking the truth in love. This will help us grow up in every way into Christ. The importance of growing up this way is to help ensure that every part of the body is working properly. When every part is working properly, the body will grow. When the body is growing, it can build itself up in love. Love, therefore, is at the beginning and the end of this process laid out for us in Ephesians 4:15-16.
“Father, give me the desire and ability to attain to this level of maturity. Use Your word to teach, reprove, correct, and train me in righteousness that I may be complete and equipped for every good work, including that of speaking the truth in love. (2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV) Give me Your wisdom that is from above, pure, peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. (James 1:5, 3:17) I know that only through Your grace and the power of Your Holy Spirit am I able to accomplish this at all. Through all of this, may all glory and honor go to You, Who alone are worthy. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
Join me in digging into His word and seeking the truth He desires for us to speak in love to a world that desperately needs Him.
